Story & Supper: The World of The Kitchen Vigilante

Join us as we welcome acclaimed Chef Ferrier Richardson and Author Alex Meikle, the creative partnership behind the gripping thriller The Kitchen Vigilante, for the first of our literary dining experiences at Crossbasket Castle.

Ferrier Richardson is one of Scotland’s most celebrated chefs, renowned for over 40 years of culinary excellence. He rose to prominence leading iconic Glasgow restaurants such as The Buttery, Rogano, October, and Eurasia, earning national awards and shaping the city’s dining scene. After two decades working internationally as a private chef for royalty, world leaders, and celebrities—including serving as Private Chef to the President and First Lady of Gabon—he returned to Glasgow to open the acclaimed East End Fox.

Alex Meikle, a Glasgow‑based writer and former CEO of major third‑sector organisations, is known for his sharp political and espionage fiction. His debut novel Deception Road launched a four‑part thriller series rooted in intelligence work and Glasgow’s hidden history. He is also co‑founder of Battlefield Writers, a collective of local authors producing acclaimed anthologies of short fiction and poetry.

Together, Richardson and Meikle bring real‑world experience, emotional depth, and insider insight to The Kitchen Vigilante, a fast‑paced crime thriller born from personal loss and crafted with decades of combined storytelling and culinary expertise.
